DIY Video Tips

Producing your video is a great accomplishment, but a difficult one at that. When thinking about producing a video for your website, blog, or social network first consider going to the pros before anything else. It is always suggested that you approach a professional before deciding to produce your own video. The pros know all the tips of the trade, have all the right equipment, and know to use the equipment. It is absolutely worth the cost to hire a professional to produce your video. But, if you insist on creating one yourself there are some tips that need to be taken into account when embarking on this venture.

The more light, the better the visual. Do not try to produce in a video in minimal light. Add as much light to the room as needed and then some to create a crystal clear image. The more natural light there is the better the image will be. With a better image available, the video will appear more professional and will have a greater effect on the audience. If there is not enough available light for your shoot, get resourceful and creative. Purchase lamps or light fixtures that will add light to your image. Be as innovative as possible when adding light to the shoot. Do not shoot the video with the person's back towards a window. They will end up looking like a floating head.

Make sure the sound quality is phenomenal. Invest in a decent microphone to use when producing your video. The video absolutely needs to have good sound quality or else the video will not be watched. The sound needs to match the word usage of the individual in the video. Eliminate as much background noise as possible such as animals, air conditioners, and other small sounds that could be picked up by the microphone. Use headphones to listen in on the shoot to pick up on the audio and other noise that is surfacing as well. The other small noises that are being picked up need to be eliminated as well. You want the video to appear as professional as possible without the use of the pros and these steps need to be considered when doing so. Ask help from a video production expert to enhance your web videos.

Practice, practice, practice. Before getting in front of the camera, have what you are going to say ready and fresh in your mind. Do not read the information from a poster board because that will cause you to look stiff and rehearsed. Deliver the information as if you are giving a presentation. The delivery should be natural and smooth without the appearance of being scripted. Make notes on what you want to say before the production and practice your delivery before getting in front of the camera. Practice as many times as possible so that you are confident in what you are going to say. Reduce your nerves as much as possible before stepping in front of the camera and be prepared for your delivery.
